➡️ Among athletes who identified the people involved, 30.6% mentioned teammates, 20.8% coaches, and 12.5% other staff — showing that safety in sport is not only a matter of coach education, but a responsibility of the entire sports community.
➡️ When asked whether they had reported the incident to someone, the sample was split exactly in half — 50% Yes, 50% No.
➡️ And among those who did speak up, 74.7% turned to a teammate, while only 5.1% approached a coach and 3.8% a club official.
Young athletes trust their peers first. This means that every teammate needs to know how to listen, how to support, and how to guide someone toward safe reporting.
