Teasing or harassment?

➡️ 44% of athletes reported that they had received insults or sarcastic comments because of their gender at least once — and nearly 1 in 3 (30.9%) experienced this repeatedly (“a few times” or “often”).

➡️ 32.6% reported being subjected to insults or having rumours spread about them.

One critical finding from the research is that the more such experiences athletes had, the more likely they were to perceive them as less serious — and the less likely they were to consider reporting them.

Repetition does not lead to habituation; it leads to silence.
