Combatting Violence & Sexual Harassment in Sports

Project Overview 

COVIS  is an Erasmus+ project aiming to prevent, identify and address incidents of violence and sexual harassment in the sports environment.

The project focuses on adolescent and young athletes, with particular attention to female athletes, and develops tools, actions and educational resources that help coaches, clubs, schools, parents and institutions create a safe and supportive athletic environment.
COVIS combines:

  • research in three partner countries,
  • educational tools (online modules, animations, guides),
  • awareness-raising campaigns,
  • dissemination events,
  • policy recommendations for sports organisations and institutions.

Project Objectives

  • To identify the forms and patterns of violence and harassment in sports.
  • To train athletes and coaches to recognise and manage such incidents.
  • To empower young people, especially girls, to speak up and report concerns.
  • To create practical tools for sports clubs, schools and youth organisations.
  • To promote European cooperation towards safer, fairer and more inclusive sport.

Project Partners: The project is implemented through the collaboration of three organisations:

Sports Medicine Association of Serbia (SMAS) – CoordinatorAn organisation specialising in sports medicine, education of coaches and European project management.

KEA FAIR PLAY CODE – Greece. Responsible for of the research, awareness actions, dissemination events and support in the development of educational resources.

 

Social HUB – Bulgaria: Expert organisation in digital communication, educational platforms and youth empowerment.

Key Activities: 
WP1 – Project Management & Coordination: Quality assurance, partner meetings, reporting.
WP2 – Research & Data Collection: Surveys and interviews with athletes and coaches across three countries; case studies and analysis.
WP3 – Development of Training Resources: Online modules, animations, podcasts and the creation of a reporting support platform.
WP4 – Awareness-Raising Activities: National events, workshops, school and club activities, media campaigns.
WP5 – Dissemination & Communication: Website, newsletters, social media, publications and policy recommendations.
